The International Student Festival (ISF) was hosted for the first time in two years on May 19 in People’s Square. The festival, hosted by Korea University Buddy Association (KUBA), celebrates the diversity of internationals residing at Korea University (KU) and facilitates interactions between international students and KU students. 22 countries and over a thousand foreign students, categorized in four regional booths — Europe, Asia, the Americas, and Africa —, were represented at the event.

International students set up booths to present traditions of their home countries, such as games, music, dance, and food. Activities offered ranged from test shots of Guinness beer to geographical quizzes of Singapore. In the Fashion Show, the second part of the festival, foreign students dressed in traditional or culturally significant attire walked the stage to exhibit unique cultural demonstrations, with some opting to perform traditional dances.

KUBA will be donating the entirety of profits earned in the flea market, comprised of student donations, to the United Nations International Children’s Emergency Fund (UNICEF). The ISF is to be held again in November this year, for international exchange students of the Fall semester.
