In spite of the success of chaebols like Samsung, LG, etc., the general tenor of corporate culture in South Korea is anti-human, and stifling - run by despots like Ms. Cho.

삼성이나 엘쥐같은 '재벌'들을 성공으로 이끈 이면에는, 일반적인 한국의 기업문화에 존재하는 비인간적이고 숨막히는 분위기가 있지. 조 여사같은 폭군들이 운영하는 곳 말야.

I have had firsthand experience with this corporate culture; it's not pleasant.

난 한국 기업문화를 직접 경험해본적이 있었고 그건 전혀 유쾌하지 않았어.

I think that traditionally in Korean culture it was considered shameful to work for anyone outside the family. So the attitude that ordinary employees are truly peons and inferiors may have contributed to this unfortunate event.
