Dutch foreign correspondent seeking intern
Young journalist from the Netherlands seeking assistance in foreign correspondence. Based in Seoul, I work independent for high-end national newspapers, magazines and radio stations in The Netherlands and Belgium. Main subjects will include social issues, North Korea and politics. My work is focused on background stories and reports behind the news. I am looking for a student or graduate with interest in assisting me full time in such productions. I prefer students of journalism, international studies or studies related to media, communication or anthropology.

Job description
- Scan and brief the daily news for potential subjects
- Translation of information (documents, internet, papers, tv, etc.)
- Function as in interpreter at interviews, field trips, (press) conferences, etc.
- Research on subjects
- Contacting organizations, specialists and other potential sources.
- Contribute ideas, angles and insights
- Brainstorm new (media)concepts, collaborations and organization structures

Requirements:
- Native Korean speaker
- Fluent in English
- Good communication-, translation- and social skills
- Living in Seoul and familiarity with the city
- Open and international minded, pro-active, critical and progressive, yet neutral
- Well informed of Korean news
- Sense of what is going on in Korean society / social developments
- Basic knowledge of Korean culture, history and contemporary society
- Good internet skills (knowledge of online communities, skilled in new media)
- Full time availability, flexible work schedule
- Able to work independently

- Experience in journalism, translating and research
- Experience in living in Europe or the US

The start of the internship is basically right away and will be full time. Minimum period is 3 months, no maximum time is set. Since this is an internship there is no regular wage, though expenses will be paid and there will be a monthly compensation, plus eventual extra's depending on the assignments. You will do a large share of the work by yourself from home, the rest of the work will be done on the field and together with me.
