The 20th Korean User Created Contents (UCC) Festival for Foreigners was held as non-face-to-face on YouTube from October 8, also known as Hangul day. This year, it was hosted by Korea University (KU)’s Korean Language Center, sponsored by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (MCST) and the King Sejong Institute Foundation (KSIF).

This annual event provides a forum for competition in which foreigners submit videos produced based on their Korean language skills, awarding works with excellent artistry and creativity. Under the theme of “The World We Live Together,” this year’s event encouraged participants to consider how to coexist as a global community and to share small but precious values in everyday life. According to the evaluation results, the KU Presidential award will be presented to the grand prize winner, and the winners will be given various awards and prize money.

Kim Jung Sook, head of the Institute of Foreign Language Studies, claimed that, “It's a pity that the event is being held online for two consecutive years due to the coronavirus disease (COVID-19), but it still is meaningful that many people from around the world communicate through video talk using the Korean-language.”
