Goyang-Si, Korea University (KU), and Yonsei University (YU) established an educational dual partnership agreement, instigating cooperation between academia and government. On October 29, President Chung Jin Taek of KU, Vice-President Kim Eunkyoung of YU, and Lee Dong-hwan, mayor of Goyang, met in Goyang Stadium to inaugurate a trifold business agreement for co-prosperity of the parties.

Located in Gyeonggi Province, Goyang is one of the most populous cities in the Seoul Capital Area, most familiar to KU students as the host of the 2022 Ko-Yon Games. The city is to lend sports facilities such as Goyang Stadium and Goyang Gymnasium to the two universities for the Annual Ko-Yon Games till 2025. In return, both KU and YU are to offer educational services to students in Goyang. Prospects of such services range from university admissions assistance services offered to high school students and joint training sessions for student-athletes.

“We welcome cooperation with KU and YU, the nation’s most prestigious academic institutions,” said mayor Lee of the partnership. “Our current agreement entails future possibilities for further collaboration in sports, educational services, and R&D.”
