Korea University (KU) has announced on November 20 that it has opened the Center for Software Security and Assurance (CSSA) the day before. CSSA was established under the ‘SW Computing Industry Source Energy Development’ enterprising project. It is a center for international joint-research on internet of things (IoT) software security.

While KU will oversee the center, other chief participating institutions are Korea Internet & Security Agency (KISA), Carnegie Mellon University, Oxford University, and Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Zurich. In addition, the world-renowned hacking team, Plaid Parliament of Pwning (PPP), a Korean university internet security club called Incognito, and others from the internet security community will hold technology exchanges.

The research on IoT software security weakness automatic analysis technology executed by CSSA aims to develop an advanced automatic analysis platform that can be easily utilized by non-expert users. KU personnel have stated, “We predict that by making sure that we get rid of weaknesses during the development of the analysis platform, it will be able to be utilized in various fields not limited to the public sector but also the security business, communication technology enterprise, education industry, automobile enterprise, and other such industries.”
