On March 16 at 2 P.M., starting with the opening game between Korea University (KU) and Yonsei University (YU), 2015 University Basketball League marked its beginning at Hwajung Tiger Dome at KU. As KU and YU have always been rivals, the two teams played a tight match, which finally ended with a victory for KU—86 to 76. This game fundamentally had two meanings to KU; it was three consecutive defeats for the league and KU turned the game around at the end.

At the first half, KU struggled and YU showed better performance, ending the game 37 to 40. At the second half, however, the flow of the game reversed for KU and KU showed its original performance. About the struggle KU had at the first half, Lee Dong Yeop, the captain of KU basketball team, said, “By the beginning of the second half, we regained our pace and finally was able to win the game. Nonetheless, it still left much to consider that we did not do well at early phase.”

For 2015 University Basketball League, 12 men's divisions and 7 women’s divisions participated in the league. Until September 24, University Basketball League will continue to have regular leagues. Then, the champion team will be decided by the quarterfinal and semifinal playoff respectively for men’s and women’s division.
