On March 5, the Sukrim Union, constituted of Korea University (KU) professors, held the 2015 First Semester Scholarship Award Ceremony at 5 P.M. at the Inchon Memorial Hall. A total of 44 students were selected for the scholarship, and roughly 125 million Korean Won (KRW) of scholarship was provided.

The Sukrim Union was established in 1970 by the professors under the goal of cultivating the bright minds of future generation, and currently 950 professors are members of the organization. The Sukrim Union has developed into the biggest scholarship foundation in school and managed to produce talented students thanks to the professors' affection for the school, providing 230 million KRW scholarships to 100 students annually.

The current President of the Sukrim Union, Ahn Bup Young (Law School), explained that “If it were not for our deep love for our disciples, none of this would be possible.” He further added that “The scholarship comes from many different professors. Although individually it does not seem to be a lot, when combined together, it helps inspire students in their studies, so, in a way, seems to be huge.”

President of KU, Yeom Jae Ho, who gave the congratulatory address at the event, revealed that “The school cannot set out a clear path for students, so the students speak out ‘youth’ while feeling despair. I want students to contemplate on why the school tries so hard to produce outstanding individuals.” The money gathered is allocated by department, and the organization picks out students in a democratic manner by holding a conference among professors and department Presidents of 16 different departments.
