From May 27 to August 21, Korea University (KU) museum holds the special exhibition called “Deep Journey”. This exhibition is hosted by KU museum and is co-designed by KU museum and Chung-An gallery. The artworks of two painters, Shin Jong Shik and Kim Sun Hyoung, will be aligned with the equal theme.

The overall purpose of such exhibition is to fulfill people’s mental satisfaction and give them a moment of composure. The paintings send out messages of “importance of time” and “relaxation” that each journey gives. According to KU museum, these two artists aimed to help people let down their duties for tomorrow for a while and take a step back to see their past and present.

Shin and Kim both attempted to apply the theme of time and moment by using lines and colors in their artworks. However, they painted their canvases in two different ways. Shin Jong Shik, as a Western painting artist, displayed his paintings with the title “Bon Voyage!” and Kim Sun Hyoung, as a Oriental painting artist, presented his paintings with the title “GARDEN BLUE”.

“Bon Voyage!” illustrates Shin’s experience in his own journey. He sought to express how memories and values amass and change as he continues his trip. On the other hand, “GARDEN BLUE” is literally about the garden painted in blue. Kim continued to exhibit this theme since 2008.

People can visit the museum through 10 A.M. to 5 P.M. Every Mondays and holidays chosen by KU museum are off. “Deep Journey” series are displayed on the lounge and first basement floor of KU museum, and third floor of Contemporary Artwork Gallery.
