It is already the day of the Ipselenti. Obviously, students can hear lyrics and beats wherever within the campus. Well, anothercultural event occurred this week, besides the festival opening. On May 27, theMuseum at the Centennial Memorial Samsung Hall opened a new exhibition.

The exhibition consists of artwork of two artists, that of Shin Jong-sik and Kim Sun-hyeong. In this particular gallery, most ofShin¡¯s works are based on his visits to foreign countries. He studied in Parisduring his 20s, and also traveled to the United States (U.S.) and some othercountries in Europe. Eventually, these trips to the western world worked out asthe main theme of the exhibition. So, a part of the exhibition¡¯s title includesthe French phrase, Bon Voyage! which meansto have a nice trip.

Another interesting characteristic about Shin¡¯spieces involve diverse variations in expressing the theme. There arephotographs, videos and some sculptures. Even an 18-meter-tall painting and the9000-pieced installation art exist. Indeed, the artist experimented very freelyon many genres.

While Shin focused on western-style, Kim is anexpert on oriental painting. Kim¡¯s main motive for the artwork entails gardens.Out of all the artwork, ¡°Garden Blue¡± is the most representative and it is alsoincluded as the title of the exhibition. Solid blue is the overall color of thepainting with the mixtures of cobalt, sepia and royal blues. Thanks to thecoolness of blue, Kim¡¯s artwork arrangement presents its viewer a sense ofpeace.

To add along to the excitement of the festival, strolling over to the museum would be a good idea. The exhibition will lasttill August 21.
