OnApril 28, Hong Seok Cheon came to Korea University (KU) to give his lecture on “sexualminorities within campus and the twenties, attitude for success.” Hong is themost prominent openly gay celebrity in Korea. The lecture was held at 4.18Memorial Hall from 6 P.M. until 8:30 P.M. The lecture was open to all KUstudents and the students had to line up before the lecture started becausethey could not reserve the seats beforehand. The lecture with Hong Seok Cheonwas especially popular and the lecture hall was crowded with students.

Duringthe lecture, Hong shared his ideas on sexual minorities, and he also talkedabout dreams and visions. He believed that people should break out from theirprejudice against the world. He also talked about hardship and ordeals thatpeople face in life, and some ways to overcome these barriers. He talked abouthis personal experience of trying to commit a suicide and overcoming hishardship.

Afterthe lecture, the students also got an opportunity to ask questions to Hong SeokCheon. One of the most meaningful sessions of lectures would be the openquestion and answer time, where students and the speakers are able tocommunicate. Thelecture was hosted by the KU’s student body. The student body has been upholdingmany events through the project with the theme “honey bookshelf.” Through honeybookshelf project, KU’s student body invited famous speakers to the schoolevery Thursday during 5 P.M.
