A joint exhibition by two clubs of KoreaUniversity (KU) and Yonsei University (YU) is being held from March 24 to 28. Theexhibition contains paintings from the club members of KU’s Seo Hwa Hwe and YU’s Hwa Woo Hwe. The exhibition’s locationis divided into two, first three days at KU’s Hana Square exhibit room, and thelast two days at YU Library’s first floor exhibition room. 

Founded in 1961, Seo Hwa Hoe is KU’s calligraphy and Western painting club. Studentswho are interested in calligraphy and Western painting, usually the oilpainting, are welcomed to join regardless of their artistic abilities. Hwa Woo Hoe is YU’s fine arts club whichstarted in 1969 originally under the name, ToyoHwa Ga Hoe—translated as Saturdaypainter’s club. Both Seo Hwa Hoe and Hwa Woo Hoe have long histories asuniversity clubs in Korea.

The two clubs have been interacting witheach other from the past and this is not the first interchange exhibition theyhave held together. “We hold Interchange Art Exhibition annually, during Marchevery year,” said Jo Ji Un (’13, English Language and Literature). Members ofboth clubs also have a friendly get-together which truly satisfies the purposefor interchange.

Each painting at the exhibition has acolored tag below, with the name of the artist and the title. The colors,either blue or red, signify the school of the artist. This makes it handy forvisitors to recognize the artists’ affiliation, also adding the fun ofcomparing the two schools’ work.
