On March 25, Korea University (KU) hosted the 2024 Spring Beginning-of-Semester Party for international students at Hana Plaza. The event was an informal gathering for KU foreign students to socialize with the school faculty and other international peers. Participants were allocated to their departments’ respective tables, which were prepared with food and beverages. As the event approaches its third iteration, it is anticipated to become a traditional gathering aimed at fostering stronger bonds among international members across KU campuses.

In expressing the school’s congruent goal of making KU a welcoming environment for foreign students, KU President Kim Dong-One tells The Granite Tower (GT), “We are planning to organize this type of party twice per semester, to show international students how important they are to the KU community.” He then added, “Currently, the school faculty convenes weekly to brainstorm plans aimed at enhancing foreign students’ experiences.” Suha Mulla ('23, International Studies) recounts her fond interactions with international students across departments and engaging discussions with professors beyond traditional classroom settings, expressing anticipation for forthcoming events tailored for foreign cohorts at KU.
