Yoon Sae-young, the former director of the Korea University (KU) Museum, has been selected by The Korean Museum Association (KMA) as the awardee of the Veteran Sector of the ¡°Pride of Museum Professional Prize.¡± Yoon began his career as a KU Museum curator in 1959 and since 1990 has served as a four-time KU Museum Director.
Yoon¡¯s accomplishments include 40 years of active efforts in research and investigation of historical remains. Notably, Yoon participated in the investigation of the excavation of the historical ruins located in Garak-dong, Songpa-gu, Seoul, Korea and contributed in establishing The Korean Association of University Museums (KAUM).
Meanwhile, in the Prominent Figure Sector, Lee Jae In, Director of The Korean (Literati) Seal¡¯s Museum and Oh Seok-hwan, Director of Chosun Minhwa Museum have been jointly selected as awardees. In the Young Museum Professional Sector, Choi Eun-ju, Director of Gyeongi Museum of Modern Art (GMOMA) was chosen as the awardee. The Special Achievement Award will be given to the late Lee Jun-young, Chief Director of Daeyu Cultural Foundation.
¡°"1,000 museums in the 100th year of the history of Korean museums; this aim helps one to foresee bright future for museums in Korea,¡± said Kim Quae Jung, President of the KMA. ¡°I humbly ask for your support and encouragement,¡± added Kim. The award ceremony will be held on May 16 at 3:00 P.M. at the small assembly hall of the National Museum of Korea.
