On March 25, 2017, TEDxKoreaUniversity organizers held its eighth talk session. Titled ¡°Choice,¡± the session was held in Korea University¡¯s (KU) Cinema Trap. The event involved people from various professions such as graffiti artist, professional presenter, curator, bookstore owner, science communicators, and psychologist. Six lectures were held, presented by: Shim Chanyang, Chae Ja Young, Park Kyung Lim, Kim Jun Soo, Kwakbang TV, and Woo Moon Sik.

The event was divided into parts of three talks each, with an intermission in between. Graffiti artist Shim ¡°Royal Dog¡± Chanyang, professional presenter Chae Ja Young, and Curator Park Kyung Lim were part of the first act, and Jidam bookstore owner Kim Jun Soo, science communicators of Kwakbang TV, and positive psychologist Woo Moon Sik presented the second part.

Pertinent to the central theme of ¡®choice,¡¯ all of the presenters emphasized the importance of choice during their lectures. The speakers spoke of their lives and their experiences, as well as their motivations that made who they are today. Artist Shim, for instance, chose to continue his pursuit of graffiti for 11 years, 10 of those without praise or notice. Jidam owner Kim, a KU alumnus, chose to found a bookstore for KU students, after he realized that there were few such businesses where college students could seek to learn.
