On March 3, the sixth annual Learning Communities Expo was held in the basement level of the SAMSUNG Centennial Memorial Hall. The Expo was hosted by Korea University (KU) Center for Teaching and Learning (CTL), along with the KU initiative for College of humanities Research and Education (CORE) Project team. Research papers supported by CTL and the CORE team were displayed in the expo, with prizes given to the most outstanding papers. Students and their academic advisers were given two months’ time to gather a team and complete their papers, which ranged from those dabbling in feminist topics to those revolving around cutting-edge technology.

The papers were divided into three sections. The faculty study community was comprised of professors searching for better teaching methods, and the self-motivated creativity design allowed undergraduate students to choose a topic of their choice and devise solutions. Lastly, the Humanities research team was funded by the CORE Project and aimed at publishing research papers about a particular branch of humanities.

After selected papers had been awarded, the participants took part in several recreational events, including quiz missions about the papers on display and SNS certification events where anyone who uploaded a photo of the expo with a hashtag could be gifted with small souvenirs. “Aside from increasing audience interest in the research papers and drawing more people to the expo, the events were also designed to promote the Korean Massive Open Online Course (K-MOOC),” a supervisor clarified. Overall, the expo proved a huge success, with many audience members flocking to enjoy the research papers and SNS events.
