On November 12, Korea University (KU) announced the opening of the Hyper-Converged Forensic Research Center for Infrastructure (F-PHI), along with the several other universities such as Seoul National University (SNU), Yonsei University (YU) and Kyeongpook National University (KNU). F-PHI is a project that focuses on instituting a future-oriented management framework based on sustainable development that unites the infrastructure of disaster relief systems. As an ambitious work of collaboration between KU and the National Research Foundation (NRF), this project is expected to use the technological fruit borne by the Fourth Industrial Revolution in order to not only improve the existing infrastructure, but also help in creating a more environmentally friendly process.

KU assigned Professor Lee Jong-sub (School of Civil, Environmental and Architectural Engineering), winner of the ¡°This Month¡¯s Scientist¡± award from the Ministry of Science, Information and Communications Technology, and Future Planning (MSIT), as the overseer of the project. Professor Lee explained that ¡°the F-PHI is essential in procuring future-oriented infrastructure management resources, and is intricately related to the Digital New Deal, climate related energy policies, and the green development of the countryside.¡±
