On September 27, a symposium hosted by the Korea University Women Alumni Association (KUWAA) was held at the Centennial Memorial SAMSUMG Hall, to celebrate the association’s 50th anniversary. Several successful alumni of KU, including Kim Sook Hee (’72, Medicine), the President of Seoul Medical Association, came to the forum to give their speech on the topic of “Leadership in the Fourth Industrial Revolution and KU Women.”

“Back in the day, it was quite difficult to live in a rather patriarchal society of KU. Although there was no discrimination on the surface, invisible obstacles did exist. We established KUWAA to escape from our feelings of alienation and isolation. Perhaps, the day of KUWAA’s abolishment would be the day in which it has completed its mission,” Professor Seong Myung Shin (Department of Psychology), the President of KU Women Professors Association, spoke out during the opening remark.

After the opening ceremony, presentations from four successful figures were made on the topic. As the experts in their fields—medicine, law, technology, and computer,—they suggested their unique insights on how to be prepared for the upcoming Fourth Industrial Revolution. After the presentations, Question and Answer (QnA) session followed up, with Kim Se Won (’79, French Language and Literature), the president of KU Women Forum, moderating.
