Korea University (KU) was defeated in the 2017 Annual Ko-Yon Games by Yonsei University (YU), with the final score of 1:2. Ultimately, KU lost the Annual Games by five to zero, which means that it suffered five losses and zero wins.

Both teams fiercely advanced toward the other's goal posts, with Ahn Eun San (’15, Physical Education, FW) and a few others almost landing goals. YU threatened KU's defense too by launching coordinated attacks against them.

Both KU players and YU boasted immaculate coordination. In particular, KU was awarded with a free kick within the first 10 minutes, which did not result in a goal.

There was a deadlock throughout the first half round. KU almost yielded goals to YU due to the collaboration of their players. Both KU and YU showed stable defense, with each foiling the other's advances. Song Beom Geun (’16, Physical Education, GK), KU's goalkeeper, especially shined during the stalemate, repeatedly fending off YU's attacks.

However, as time passed YU seemed to dominate the game. Although the ball went back and forth in the game, it mainly stayed in KU’s side in the second half, during which YU had many more chances to score. A few minutes into the second half, a kick from YU’s player changed the score to 0:1, where YU took the lead. Although KU unleashed a few counterattacks, they did not make it past YU’s strong defense.

KU’s player Cho Young Ook (’17, Physical Education, FW)’s header at 42’34” led to talks of turnaround; the score was now 1:1. However, YU Player Ha Seung Woon scored during the extended round, ending the game at 1:2 in YU's favor. The 2017 Annual Ko-Yon Games concluded in a crippling and unprecedented defeat for KU, with the total score standing at 0:5.
