The debate session that was supposed to convene today at 5:00 P.M. has been cancelled due to fierce protest by students and professors. Students and professors who disapproved the establishment of Crimson College collectively railed against Crimson College in front of the Inchon Memorial Hall, where the first debate session was supposed to take place.
The protestors chanted that they ¡°cannot accept the school¡¯s belittling attitude of ignoring student¡¯s voice,¡± and that ¡°the school does not belong to President Yeom Jae Ho.¡± Students and professors, including the president of the Korea University Student Association (KUSA), Park Se Hoon (¡¯13, Political Science and International Relations), took turns giving speeches that censured the faulty draft of Crimson College and the lack of communication.
The president of academic affairs eventually announced the cancellation of the session. He purported that he mainly followed orders given by the Crimson College Promotion Committee and ascertained that none of the suggested plan has been finalized. He also promised to "heed to the voices of the students regarding this issue" and also apologized for his demeaning attitude he showed last Tuesday.
The dean of the division of interdisciplinary studies, professor Park Semin, thanked all the students and professors who took part in today¡¯s protest. No further announcement was made regarding the second debate session that was planned to take place on the 15th.
