On May 5, Korea University (KU) and the KU Alumni Association held the 119th Anniversary Commemoration and Founder’s Day event at Inchon Memorial Hall. President Kim Dong-One announced future ambitions for the institution, aiming to leap forward as a prestigious global institution that contributes to society by next year's anniversary.

KU will adopt “Contribution to Humanity” as its mission, addressing climate crisis, infectious disease spread, socio-economic inequality, and aging population. Furthermore, the ceremony awarded those who contributed to KU’s development and prestige; namely the Proud KU People Award to Song Hyun, Chairman of Song Hyun Group; Kang Seok-Hee, General Director of Pacific, Northwest, and Arctic Regions of the U.S. Federal Public Procurement Service; and Kwon Oh-Seop, Chairman of L&P Cosmetics.

The Community Service Award honored Soonyoung Kwon, CEO of Nutrition and Education International, for her efforts in alleviating malnutrition. The Crimson Award recognized Jinhyeok Jeong, CEO of Centroid Investment, and Myeonggeun Lee, Chairman of Sungwoo Hitech for continuously contributing to KU’s development. The Long-term service awards were presented to faculty and staff for their dedicated years of service. Lastly, the Stone Pagoda Achievement Award honored employees Ho-Jin Choi and Je-Yoon Yang for their contributions to KU’s growth.
