Korea University (KU) ranked first among private universities and second in the country for producing successful candidates in the Public Officer Qualification Exams (POQEs) for public officials of grade five. According to the Korea Times, POQE is one of the most difficult civil service examinations in the world. This year, out of 236 total candidates, 52 KU alumni passed the exam. The result indicates an overall improvement from last year when 33 successful KU candidates were produced.
In addition, KU induced six successful candidates for the Diplomat Candidate Selection Test (DCST) and 12 for the Technical Officer Qualification Exam (TOQE). KU tied with Yonsei University (YU) for the DCSTs in second place but remained in third place for the TOQEs. Overall, KU¡¯s successful candidates for civil service positions raises the school¡¯s prestige across the nation and has convinced more students to apply for future civil service qualification exams. For instance, a third-year student, who requested anonymity, spoke of the results. ¡°As someone studying for these exams, I feel extremely happy that KU has a culture where many students apply for civil service positions.¡±
