On February 18, the opening ceremony of Korea University (KU) X-Garage Makerspace was held at X-Garage to celebrate its reconstruction. KU President Yeom Jae-ho and professors attended the event to congratulate the new X-Garage along with different members of ¥ð-ville who also contributed in remodeling.
The host, Professor Jeong Hyo Eun (¥ð-ville Management Support Team), started the program by introducing the professors and workers who helped the reconstruction of X-Garage. After the introduction, Professor Kong Jung-Sik (Department of Civil, Environmental and Architectural Engineering) gave a short speech about the overall construction project and what goals they tried to achieve through the reconstruction. Professor Kong said that ¡°We first aimed to make the place usable for not only KU students, but also for local residents near the university.¡± He also addressed the meaning of X-Garage, explaining that ¡°X¡± implies infinite creativity.
President Yeom also expressed gratitude to all the workers and professors who participated in the project, stating that he expects people to use the place as an ¡°amusement park¡±, where they could freely spend their time relaxing and working on diverse fields. After the two speeches, the ceremony came to an end with a ribbon cutting ceremony.
