안녕하세요, 고려대학교 총학생회입니다.

1983년, 고려대학교 경제학과에 재학 중이던 김두황 열사는 군의 ‘녹화사업’ 과정에서 스물셋의 나이로 생을 마감했습니다. 이후 오랜 시간 의문사로 남아 있던 그의 죽음은, 2024년 진실화해위원회의 결정을 통해 국가폭력에 의한 사망으로 공식 인정되었습니다. 오늘날 김두황 열사는 민주광장 진혼비와 함께, 진실과 민주주의를 향한 이름으로 우리 곁에 기억되고 있습니다.

고려대학교 총학생회는 김두황 열사의 삶과 뜻을 재조명하고자, 동기들이 발간한 『김두황평전』을 바탕으로 독후감 대회를 개최합니다. 이번 대회가 학우 여러분께 진실과 민주주의의 가치를 다시금 돌아보고, 오늘을 살아가는 대학생으로서의 용기와 책임이라는 의미를 함께 고민하는 뜻깊은 계기가 되기를 바랍니다.

*신청자는 접수 시 생활도서관에서 해당 책을 받아가시면 됩니다.

Hello, this is the Korea University Student Union.

In 1983, Kim Doo-hwang, then a student in the Department of Economics at Korea University, passed away at the age of 23 during the military’s “Greenization Project.” His death, which remained unresolved for many years, was officially recognized in 2024 by the Truth and Reconciliation Commission as a death caused by state violence. Today, Kim Doo-hwang is remembered alongside the memorial monument in Democracy Plaza, in the name of truth and democracy.

To shed new light on the life and legacy of Kim Doo-hwang, the Korea University Student Union is holding an essay contest based on The Biography of Kim Doo-hwang, published by his classmates. We hope this contest will serve as a meaningful opportunity for students to reflect on the values of truth and democracy, and to consider the courage and responsibility we hold as university students today.
