On March 18, a seminar on various topics on linguistics was held in International Studies Hall. Hosted by Korea University (KU) Department of Linguistics and KU Institute for Language and Information, the seminar held significance in that most of it was carried out by students themselves. After short speeches by KU graduates, five groups of students presented their research, all unique and insightful in their own way.

Ahn Tae-hoon (¡¯02, Linguistics), one of the graduates and a current reporter for JTBC explained the factors necessary to become a reporter and disclosed his opinion on how news should be like. While emphasizing that mass media¡¯s purpose and goal should be making a better society through containing and regulating power domination, he also pointed out that unfortunately, news that focuses on entertainment is the content that gains most attention.

After Ahn¡¯s speech, students who participated in the ¡°Future Linguists Project¡± presented their research on different topics including ideal future language and dialects. The understanding and depth the students showed through their presentation and Q&A session that followed certainly impressed the professors and proved high potential of future linguistics. Professor You Seok-Hoon (Department of Linguistics) ended the event with his closing address.
