The School of Interdisciplinary Studies is providing a special lecture series as an educational program. Whoever wishes to attend the discourses can participate whether the person is the member of Korea University (KU) or not. The program consists of three lectures. The first lecture about an ideal human form of the East and the West was given last September, and this October, it is time to turn one¡¯s eyes on the history of music.

The extension lecture aims to help the participants understand the specifics of modern and contemporary music. According to Professor Ryoo Kyoung-Sun (Institute for General Education), contemporary music has strived for a new kind of musical notes, focusing on changing the ways of thinking. ¡°Laying an emphasis on unconventionality, which is one of the characteristics of the contemporary music, even led to a creation of an anti-music genre,¡± said Professor Ryoo. In the end of the lecture, Ryoo suggested trying diverse types of music as there are no boundaries in music.

Last spring semester, the School of Interdisciplinary Studies presented a lecture series on science and humanities. It is continuing to provide a program that features and blends many different fields of study, as the name of the department tells.
