On March 15, 2017, Korea University (KU) members of Butterfly of Peace hosted a protest in front of the 4.18 Memorial Hall from 12:00 P.M. to 1:00 P.M. This protest was part of the countrywide simultaneous rally, in which 14 universities participated, including Seoul National University (SNU), Ewha Womans Universtiy (EWU), Chungang University (CU), and Hankuk University of Foreign Studies (HUFS).

Butterfly of Peace is a network of university students all over the country who long for the ¡®comfort women¡¯ issue to be resolved once and for all. Every Wednesday, a rally is held in front of the Embassy of Japan. KU members of Butterfly of Peace held today¡¯s rally as an extension of this weekly demonstration. Members of the Butterfly of Peace sang songs and gave speeches wearing a yellow shirt.

The main event of today¡¯sdemonstration was sending a message to the victims. ¡°By holding a demonstration in the campus, we hope many KU students will get to know that university students are trying to solve comfort women issues,¡± Shin Woo Jeong (¡¯14, French Language and Literature) said.

The participants of the gathering also urged students to take part in the 2017 Butterfly of Peace: RUN, a fund-raising marathon for the ¡®comfort women.¡¯ Last year, 1,500 citizens and 300 university students ran around Seoul Plaza. This year, this marathon will take place in the Sangam World Cup Park Peace Square on March 18, 2017 at 1:00 P.M.
