On April 30, Condolezza Rice dropped by KoreaUniversity (KU). Having been a crucial member of Bush administration for eightyears, her expertise lies in foreign and security policy. Indeed, her lecture¡¯smain theme is ¡°What can U.S. do for Unification of Korea?¡± Again, the specificcontents are not known.

Rice had been the 66th United States Secretary ofState. She is also the first African American woman to gain the title. Yet, notanymore is she in the office and she seems to have no direct relation withSouth Korea currently. However, Rice visited two educational spots in Korea andaddressed meaningful speeches respectively.

A day before, she visited Poongsan high school. Theschool has long been a favorable place for the Republican Party members indelivering speeches. In 2005, the former U.S. President George H.W. Bush wasthe first to visit the school. Later on, his son, George W. Bush and Jeb Bushfollowed their father in doing so. Rice also selected Poongsan high school.Like the former speakers, she did not want the content of the lecture to bedisclosed. So, the exact content is not known, but its participants explainedthat she emphasized the importance of reading.

Thespeech took place in the Centennial Memorial Hall. It started at 10 o¡¯clock inthe morning till 11:00 A.M. So many students paid attention to the event thatthe assigned seats were not enough in number to accommodate all. Thankfully, Riceallowed the students to sit on podium to provide extra space. About 500students participated in total and the speaker also took questions at the endof her lecture.
