Today, Mark Lippert, United States (U.S.) Ambassador to the Republic of Korea, dropped by Korea University (KU) to give a lecture about the current U.S. and Korea Relationship and have a small Q&A (Questions and Answers) session with the KU students. The event, which was titled, ¡°Town Hall Meeting with U.S. Ambassador Mark Lippert,¡± took place in the Global Conference Hall at 4 P.M.

He started out his speech by saying that the relationship between the two nations has never been better and informed the audience about his ¡°3 part test to validate the theory,¡± which included the following aspects: the fact that both countries uphold a free market economy, what the countries are doing together, and how they were doing. To all of the three points, he shared some positive thoughts, stating that the alliance ¡°had success¡± and is ¡°doing very well.¡±

He began the second part of his lecture by mentioning the ¡°4 pillars¡± of the alliance, which referred to the military, economy, global partnership, and people-to-people relationship. After listing these points, he elaborated on each one of them and added that ¡°the military is more integrated...we have the gold standard of (Free Trade Agreement)¡¦all these are binding people together.¡±

At the end of his lecture, he mentioned that ¡°We have new issues that require sustained attention from the relationship¡± and named a series of current issues such as cyber, space, environment, energy, health, and technology. He ended his lecture with the remark that ¡°The challenge is to make the relationship thrive, and we need to expand aggressively into these areas.¡±
