The Opening Ceremony of KU-MAGIC One Project..  Provided by KU Story.

After the construction of Hana Science Hall, College of Health Science students, who formerly studied in the Health Science Campus located Jeongneung, moved to Anam Campus. The Health Science Campus was thought to be deserted as students no longer took courses in Jeongneung. However, the Health Science Campus was reopened with ambitious plans in mind. The campus has been transformed into a new hub for bio-medical innovation.

Korea University Medical Applied Research and Development Global Initiative Center, dubbed the KU-MAGIC Project One, aims to foster growth in the field of pharmacy and medicine, network globally and conduct state-funded projects. The project will be fully initiated in 2016.

There are quite a few notable features in the KU-MAGIC Project. As KU is renowned in the field of virus and infectious diseases, an interdisciplinary system, to incorporate researchers from different field of expertise will be enacted. Also, an open platform for developing cutting edge medical devices will be launched. Advancement in the field of personalized cancer treatments, involving further research into genes and proteome is anticipated. Developing futuristic medical technology for smart ageing will be another important research topic for the center.

A new dream, to establish a world class bio-medical research center is being incubated at KU. One of the organizers of the project commented, “KU-MAGIC project is the realization of the ambition to upgrade bio-medical technology, and become Korea’s think tank.”
