The Support Center for Handicapped Students (SCHS) at Korea University (KU) along with the Center of University Educational Development created a guide book for KU students and faculty to help those at KU who need help.

This handbook includes explanation about the SCHS, its role and activity, types of handicapped students at KU, understanding of handicapped students, introduction of the handicapped students' helpers program, and further details of this program.

The SCHS is located on the first floor of the 4.18 Memorial Hall and provides room for handicapped students so that they can study, rest, and sleep. Furthermore, the SCHS aids students who need help during lectures by assigning a helper, or buddy for each handicapped student, which is most of what the handicapped students' helpers program.

It is expected that the new guide book by the SCHS would allow ordinary KU students to have a correct understanding of handicapped students. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), handicaps can be classified into an "impairment, disability, or handicap." The handbook further classifies and explains the 15 types of handicaps that are seen among students in KU.

As this new guide book provides information about not only the helpers program, but also a correct understanding of disabilities, Jang Ji-Young ('14, Russian Language and Literature) applauds the SCHS for "providing a guide book into a correct understanding of disabilities and guiding students to help those with disabilities more easily."
