From November 20 to 21, the Korea University (KU) is holding the East-Asia-Nordic/Benelux University Consortium (ENUC) Conference at the International Studies Hall. The conference is hosted by the KU Office of International Affairs and the Nordic/Benelux center. All sessions of the conference cover the theme of ¡°Research Strategies for the Fourth Industrial Revolution.¡±

After a short welcoming reception and dinner on November 19 in the Nine Tree Premier Hotel Myeongdong II, the main sessions are taking place at the International Studies Hall of KU. They will be continued until November 21 with a campus tour, exploring various school facilities, such as the C-Lounge and the CJ Creative Library (CCL).

The first day of the conference started off with President Yeom Jaeho¡¯s welcoming speech, which emphasized the effectiveness of R&D in enhancing international connectivity. ¡°There comes an age where it is no longer about jobs for life, but life of jobs.¡± said President Yeom. His remarks followed with a brief speech from Ambassador Kim Chang Beom of the International Relations Department of the Seoul Metropolitan Government.

During the plenary session, Professor Sung Changmo (Green Graduate School) gave a keynote speech on the need for Korea to make structural transformations for maintaining competitiveness in the Fourth Industrial Revolution. Then, the professor and several panelists had a discussion on the status quo of Korea¡¯s research strategies in preparation for the next Industrial Revolution.

This was followed by three consecutive research sessions that speculated how the scientific innovations of the Fourth Industrial Revolution will influence different aspects of the society, including medicine, economy, energy, and environment.
