On September 11, an official clarification statement by Korea University Student Union (KUSU) was posted on the KUSU Facebook page. The statement starts with a sincere apology for not having had properly organized the second rally held on August 30, which aimed to denounce the corrupt admission scandal surrounding KU.

Throughout the statement, a detailed description of the process in preparing the rally is provided. First, KUSU clarifies the reasons behind the late announcements made for the second rally. On August 26, the Central Steering Committee (CSC) concluded to hold a second rally, and on the following day, it discussed the direction and chants for the rally. CSC decided on slogans: ¡°Reveal the Truth for Admission Allegations¡± and ¡°Establish a Just Admission System.¡± However, after receiving feedback that the latter chant holds the possibility of supporting a particular political party, the CSC discussed again whether to use the chant and finalized on not using it for the rally and posters. KUSU states that such a process led to the delay of deciding which chants to recite and apologizes for notifying the announcements for the rally so late, which was made on the morning of August 30.

KUSU continues to explain the reason behind the unorderly execution of the rally. KUSU intended the CSC to take command of the rally, as it was the very first to plan the rally. However, KUSU states that it was its mistake not to have effectively delivered such thoughts in advance to the CSC. Furthermore, KUSU did not communicate thoroughly with the Central Executive Committee (CEC) as well, which led the rally to be unorganized with an absence of proper management. In the statement, KUSU apologizes for the overall poor and inexperienced coordination of the rally. It states that KUSU will now endeavor to facilitate cooperative communication between CSC and CEC in the future.

In conclusion, KUSU accentuates that a student union is not a position to reign over students. With an apologetic attitude, KUSU asserts that it will endeavor to regain trust from KU students and build a healthy student community by listening to their voices.
