[NEWS]MBC PD Kim Jinman Visited to Talk about Communication and Experience

On March 29, MBC (Munhwa Broadcasting Corporation) Program Director (PD) Kim Jinman presented a lecture, “Finding a Way at the End of the World –Communication and Experience,” from 4 P.M. at Korea University (KU) Centennial Memorial SAMSUNG Hall Conference Room. Kim directed a documentary series which includes “Tears of the Amazon”, “Tears of the Arctic”, and “Tears of the Antarctic.”

In the lecture, PD Kim emphasized the importance of communication, teamwork, and experience. Communication, a significant competence one should have, comes from consideration and keen interests. In the process of casting tribes and places for one of his documentary series entitled“Tears of the Amazon,” Kim had previously visited tribes in Brazil and stations in person and interacted with the workers several times. With such efforts, Kim was able to successfully deliver the grandiose beauty of nature. What he learned throughout his dynamic experience is that the face-to-face communication is the best way to understand and truly interact with other people.

Kim also talked about power of teamwork. In such an adverse environment of the Amazon and Antarctic, helping each other as a team is crucial. If one works harder than the other, or less than the other, its unity soon collapses. Each member’s role is critical and directly affects the overall team efficiency.

In order to hear his diverse experiences and in-depth stories behind the scenes, KU students with a variety of majors attended the lecture. Meanwhile, Kim is now working on the next documentary series: one about insects.
