On October 21, Korea University (KU) held the “2022 Smart City Workshop,” led by several experts in the field of Information Security and Smart City Security. The stated goal of the workshop was to develop Seoul as a “smart city,” a city that uses information and communication technology (ICT) to create more efficient infrastructure and services for the public. The workshop was divided into three sections: ships, cars, and drones. In each sessions, new ideas and innovations for each vehicle were brought forth and discussed.
A few highlights of the event include discussions about smart car and automization, marine cybersecurity, over-the-air (OTA) programming, which refers to wireless methods of information transportation, and more. Additionally, an anti-drone utilizing Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) was unveiled at the workshop. Anti-drones are used to detect and intercept other drones, and the one unveiled at the event has specifically been used for facility protection.
