On March 14, the Korea University (KU) π -Ville 99 held a short festival promoting the diverse ways in which students can productively use the building. Held on the day equivalent to the value of π (3.14…), the festival celebrated the endless possibilities that students using π -Ville 99 embody by emphasizing a similarly limitless number. The event was separated into four segments, each of which hosted special themes and exhibitions.

Within the empty lot of π -Ville 99 was held a flea market, which opened from 12:00 P.M. to 4:00 P.M., where various arts and crafts products at affordable prices to bystanders near the West Gate. Some of the items included handmade comic books, jewelry, t-shirts and slime. Behind the empty lot, a gardening program set up shop, allowing students to plant their own flowers and pick them up after two months. This program had asked for participants to sign up in advance by March 7. Also starting from 12:00 P.M were the classes called “Introduction to π –Ville” held at the information desk of the entrance to the second floor.

The lectures held by the various teams working within π -Ville 99 were enough to inspire the creative minds of the attendees. Unlike the three events above, the exhibition “Beautifully Wrong,” held on the fourth floor of the building, will be displayed for the rest of the month until March 30 from 10 A.M to 6:00 P.M. The exhibition is meant to evoke the trivial thoughts that occur to us on a daily basis, which we ironically do not give much thought to.

Lee Haeyeon (’14, Business), one of the event’s hosts from the π –Ville student Operation Committee, said, “We are hosting the event as a celebration of the one-year anniversary of π -Ville 99.” Lee continued, “I hope that the event will give students a chance to think outside the box and invite them into the purview of creativity.” The π -Ville Day was a treat for the students seeking new artistic, creative inspirations as well as light entertainment on a sunny day in the KU campus.
