Korea University (KU) students protested against the establishment of Crimson College (tentative name) at Inchon Memorial Hall on November 8. The collective act was held just before KU’s official briefing session of Crimson College took place.

Crimson College, which was unveiled in May in the name of “Future College,” aroused many controversies ever since KU President Yeom Jae Ho released plans to establish it. Not only the students but also numerous professors opposed against the school’s unilateral change in policy.

The protest was participated by many students who all showed dissent at how President Yeom Jae Ho was making unilateral decisions in establishing the new College. Speakers including President of Interdisciplinary Studies Bok Geum Tae (’14, Business) and President of KU Student Association (KUSA) Park Se Hoon (’13, Political Science and International Relations) criticized the school and Yeom for failing to follow a democratic process and reflect students’ opinions.
